Our 2024 / 2025 Oat Harvest Update

Kia ora e te whānau, hello and howdy,

And just like that summer is over, and jack frost is nipping at our toes. Its time for our hard working farmers and growers to put their feet up by the fire for a well deserved rest, as we celebrate yet another harvest in the bag.

This past season saw fantastic growing conditions with plenty of rainfall and sunlight hours throughout summer, exactly when the crops needed it. Yet as always, challenges came in the form of wet and muddy fields later in summer, right when we needed to get heavy harvesting machinery on the paddocks. This meant a very delayed and drawn out harvest across the Southland and Otago region, meaning patience and timing were key to getting every last crop safely tucked away to dry in the grain silos.

Here at Otis, we have spent the summer months checking in on our farmers, taking the time to drive all over the region, on endless gravel roads. Taking the time to visit for a smoko, have a cuppa tea and connect is such a pivotal part of our role in the oat ecosystem. We encourage you to stay fussy, support our farmers, recognise their unseen toil, and buy NZ grown and NZ made.

Now its our turn to go to work. To have the privilege of being handed the freshest, highest quality oat grain in the world, to be turned into the smoothest, creamiest New Zealand made oat milk for cafes and fridges all over New Zealand and South East Asia.

Stay Fussy, New Zealand. Support New Zealand grown and made
