Scroggin

Scroggin

Round five of Kawhe for Koha saw the Wānaka crew came out in force, and we met our goal of selling a hundred oat coffees. Ka pai to all the great Southern Lakes humans.

The entire proceeds of the first 100 oat coffee purchases went to Scroggin’s charity of choice, @minttrust Mint is a small group of local families working on a voluntary basis to support youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities in the Upper Clutha region. A truly worthy cause.

Scroggin draws inspiration from the landscapes of the southern alps and the outdoor mountain culture of Wānaka. It is an escape, and a space to enjoy the best bits in life. They’ve engaged in our Saveboard return scheme by recycling all their Tetra Pak through Waste Busters where it is made a sustainable low carbon building material.

A huge thanks to our lovely friends @scroggincoffeeandeatery for hosting.

Thank you for being a part of Kawhe for Koha, could you tell us a little about the charity you’ve chosen and why?**

We choose the M!NT Charitable Trust as it's a wonderful, locally run charity! They always put together awesome events helping those with intellectual disabilities get out and about in our wonderful community.

Besides caffeine, what gets you out of bed in the morning?  The beautiful sunrises we get over the mountains (+ drinking delicious Wolf Coffee).

We're halfway through 2023, what are you hopeful for in the back half of the year?  Some exciting things are in the making... house-made pastry + croissants are on the horizon for Scroggin! About a month ago I completed a Boulangerie course at the Le Cordon Bleu School in Wellington, so we’ll hopefully be bringing all that goodness to life.
