Dispensary

With round six of Kawhe for Koha in the bag, we’d like to share that the entire proceeds of the first 100 oat coffee purchases went to Dispensary’s charity of choice, @Youthline they are a "with youth, for youth" organisation that supports young people throughout Aotearoa New Zealand, who have provided support to Kiwis aged between 12-24 years for more than 50 years.

A massive thank you to the amazing team at Dispensary for hosting and @commongroundespresso for providing the caffeine.

Youthline provides critical support to young people of Dunedin - including those who are struggling with their mental health, as well as young people who want to learn, grow and give back to their community.

Read our Q & A's with Mila at Dispensary below:

Hi Mila, can you let the people know Dispensary’s offering and reason for being?  At Dispensary we’re all about the coffee, the food and the people. Common Ground coffee, roasted locally and given the care it deserves by our baristas. Fresh, tasty food is prepared daily on site. But mostly what these two things bring together are the people. Both the Dispensary crew and the faces we see every day. Good coffee, good food, good people.

Besides caffeine, what gets you out of bed in the morning?  I’m not going to lie most of the time it’s probably my cat screaming for breakfast. The promise of another crazy day with the best co workers, and let’s be honest, I’m getting paid for it…

Thank you for being a part of Kawhe for Koha, could you tell us a little about the charity you’ve chosen and why?  The charity we chose for Kawhe for Koha is Youthline. Kids today are growing up in a pretty tough time, the past few years in particular have been hard on our young people. With mental health issues on the rise and just the pressures of growing up in today’s world, Youthline provides a great service and support network for our kids. For us it’s about giving something back to the community and helping our people of the future.

We're more than halfway through 2023, what are you hopeful for in the back half of the year?  I’m hopeful for the rest of this year to bring us more crazy days and warmer weather. I’m also hopeful as the one who makes the food to do some experimenting over the summer for some fresh baking ideas so be on the lookout!
